Dutch term or phrase: Haardstede and Inlijving
This is from a listing of a military reservist's positions and deployments in the military. The phrase that I'm not sure about is:
IN ZIJN HAARDSTEDE IN AFWACHTING VAN ZIJN INLIJVING. Haardstede to me is hearth or fireside. In this case, does it mean "At home"? So does this mean "At home awaiting deployment or active duty? Being from Holland sometimes the Flemish throws me off. Anyone with an idea please let me know. Hartelijke dank bij voorbaat!

English translation:Haardstede or haardstee and inlijving
Explanation:
Haardstede is an old and rather prosaic way of describing the house in which one lives since it contains a fire place as opposed to places that lacked one and would thus be rendered not suitable for living in.

Inlijving would be best described as 'toetreding' which in English in this contect I would translate to 'He was at home awaiting admission to the military' or 'to join the military'. The latter being a more litteral translation.

- het verplicht of gedwongen toetreden tot een groep
Inlijving is een proces waardoor zaken of personen verbonden worden op grond van regel, wet, afspraak, kracht of macht

Inlijving tot de adel is een van de manieren waarop een persoon tot de adeldom kan overgaan. In Nederland is deze inlijving geregeld in de Wet op de adeldom van 1 augustus 1994.
