Text is the accompanying notes to a set of CDs to commemorate 30 years of the North Sea Jazz Festival, with tracks by various artists who performed there. Can't get the meaning of this phrase at all - help, please!

Brings back old (musical) memories
Explanation:
Literally, festival of rememberance - which has obviously got other connotations, but maybe something to the effect of it "bringing back old musical memories", "stirring old memories" or "music from old".

I actually opted for something like "...come along just to hear old favourites" but this got me on the right track. Thanks, everyone!

looking for the thrill of recognition

Explanation:
"when keyboardist Russell ... drawls a verse of Harrison's 'Beware of Darkness', you can still feel the thrill of recognition shoot through the crowd."
