low prices create loyalty Explanation: 'Vechten' here refers to competing on price. E.g. what we would call a budget store/airline/telco/etc. in English is known as a 'prijsvechter' in Dutch. 'Hechten' refers to bonding. The construction is typical of the shorthand style of signs and notices often found in Dutch shops, e.g. "3 halen = 2 betalen", "aanraken = kopen", "op = op", etc. [the equals sign is pronounced as though it was the word 'is']. So to make a full sentence out of it, I'd say something like: 'the way to keep customers loyal is to keep prices low', or something along those lines. Whatever fits best in your text.
