Dutch term or phrase: architectural terms (1)
These and the following terms are used in a detailed report listing structural damage to a building (bouwkundige opname). I am looking for English equivalents that would be used by a building assessor or structural engineer, not necessarily an architect and probably not an art historian. There’s not a lot of context to work with; sample text in which the term occurs is generallygiven ini square brackets. (1) hanekam or hanekan [Loszittende metselsteen van de hanekam] -- this is a lintel, constructed of brick or stone, with a stepped upper outline. Is there an English term? (2) hardsteen [Beschadigd hardsteen van de lekdorpel] – the hard natural stone that is often used in masonry construction for door and window sills, jambs etc. (3) negge [langs de profielstenen van de negge] – this is the edge or corner of the inset in a wall for a window (or door?) opening.
