Dutch term or phrase: civiele ploeg/medewerker
Het betreft instructies voor het leggen van glasvezelkabels. De term 'civiele ploeg' wordt gebruikt om de medewerkers aan te duiden die in kleine ploegen of teams van 4-5 man eventueel met kleine graafmachines de sleuven in de grond graven in de straten/trottoirs waarin de kabels en buizen gelegd worden voor de nutsbedrijven. Hoe worden deze mensen genoemd in het Engels? Ik ben zelf al bezig geweest met 'civil worker', 'civil technician', 'civil labourer' en hoewel 'civil technician' mijn voorkeur heeft nu, kan ik niet echt een bevestiging vinden dat dit de juiste term is. Heeft iemand van jullie ervaring in het telecomgebeuren?

neutral  Textpertise: Not happy with the term "civil worker" as it can also mean civil servant. It is my feeling that the meaning of the term is not sufficiently defined for it to be used unambiguously.

utility team worker


Explanation:
Utility construction companies for gas, electricity and other services have two types of "outdoor" workers: team workers and lone workers. The following reference applies to lone workers:
