Transport / Transportation / Shipping / inland waterway shipping annual report
Dutch term or phrase: dispositie
Dispositie must be a department in this shipping company as in the annual report they state the following "Op de dispositie zijn in het verslagjaar geen wisselingen van personen geweest.". I saw an earlier question (without explanation) with the result "forward planning". Could "dispositie" be the "forward planning" department in a shipping company?

Explanation:
I must admit it wasn't easy to find references for this, especially as it's often mistranslated as "disposition", which doesn't mean very much in this context.

However, it means ensuring that resources are in the right place at the right time. Michael's reference comment concerns "dispositiesysteem", software used to monitor vehicle fleet movements.

My reference is a job description for a "logistiekbediende", also referred to as a "medewerker dispositie", showing that the two are near synonyms. The jobholder's main responsibilities are these:

"Je plaatst en verwerkt bestellingen, je communiceert met inkoop en met leveranciers & je wijst goederen toe aan winkels."

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Phil, so in the context of a shipping company this could mean having the right ship at the right place at the required time to pick up and/or deliver a consignment. It makes a lot of sense!

agree  philgoddard: Though I don't agree with "dispositioning". It means making sure they're in the right place at the right time.
