de Lek Explanation: De Lek: Deze rivier vormt eigenlijk een deel van de Rijn. Tussen Wijk bij Duurstede en Krimpen aan de Lek heet de rivier Lek; verder stroomafwaarts heet de rivier De Nieuwe Maas. De Rijn stroomde vroeger via de tegenwoordige Kromme Rijn en Oude Rijn naar Katwijk. Rond 1100 werd de Kromme Rijn afgedamd, waarna de Lek de hoofdstroom werd.
