roux v.s batter الرُّو / خلطة Explanation: roux = الرُّو / مزيج من الدهن والدقيق لتكثيف الحساء a cooked mixture of butter or other fat and flour used to thicken sauces, soups, etc batter = خلطة / عجينة سائلة من الدقيق والبيض a mixture of flour, milk or water, eggs, etc., beaten together for use in cookery. I wouldn't use "مخيض" for "batter", because "مخيض" refers to "buttermilk".
