After I looked into this further, it turns out that a "running buddy" in this context could refer to a product such as the following:

Such a product could keep any music-playing devices, such as a cell phone or iPod, safe from rain and other elements.

I'm not going to propose a translation in Arabic for this, but I do want to explain the meaning in English. The writer here is talking as though there is a checklist of things that one should have for the particular project he is speaking of. An example of a checklist is here:

The three items on the writer's checklist are:

1. Running buddy
2. Acoustic tracks
3. Chart toppers

When you obtain or do something on a checklist, you place a check-mark in the little box next to it. If you are going through the list verbally, you can say "check" as you confirm that you have obtained or completed each item.
