A movement and style of art from the 20th century which attempts to reduce art to the basic geometric shapes with the fewest colors, lines, and textures. Minimal art does not seek to be representational of any object.

Umjetnicki pokret i(li) umjetnicki stil, nastao u dvadesetom vijeku, koji nastoji reducirati umjetnost na osnovne geometrijske oblike koristeci u najmanjoj mogucoj mjeri boje, linije i teksturu.<br />Iako u prvom redu poistovjecivan sa likovnom umjetnoscu, isti principi vaze i za muzicku umjetnost, dramske kreacije, umjetnicki dizajn, itd.<br />Osnovna karakteristika Minimalizma je isticanje estetskih vrijednosti umjetnickog djela a izbjegavanje komentara (socijalnog, historijskog, politickog ili bilo kog drugog).
