The Reader’s Digest guide ‘How to Write and Speak Better’ notes a technique used by President John F Kennedy.

When people look and listen they tend to focus on one eye rather than both. Kennedy, however, would look from eye to eye when he listened, softening the expression in his own eyes at the same time, and so giving the impression that he cared greatly about the speaker’s feelings.

Явно става въпрос именно за тази техника ползвана от Кенеди при изслушване на събеседника, като премества погледа от едното око към другото а не го насочва главно към едното, както несъзнателно правят повечето хора. По този начин създава впечатление че е много загрижен за чувствата на събеседника (на човека отсреща).

Asker: Проблемът е, че това са маркетингови материали и нямам възможност за бележки под линия. А буквалният поглед, дори и да е точен, в случая не ми върши работа.

Asker: Възможно е предложеният от Вас превод да е точен (и подозирам, че е така), само че в случая обяснението в скоби казва друго и не мисля, че този вариант отговаря на контекста. Това обаче не ми пречи да благодаря за всички пояснения. :)
