Thanks, David. You have brought thought provoking issues to this discussion. Retailer has the responsibility of adequate product representation. He certainly paid the price in this case.

An online Chinese retailer marketed massage chair made in China. Material stated in English was "leather", while in Chinese "皮革".

Later, the retailer was sued by a disappointed buyer in a U.S. Court for misrepresentation of the goods. Massage chair was made of high quality synthetic leather. Chinese retailer's attorney argued "皮革" was a general term for "leather" or "synthetic leather".

Nonetheless, Judge ruled that leather was made of animal skin, not synthetic material, high quality or not. Therefore, it was a misrepresentation on the website.

Was the judge correct?
