Postoji ideja (mislim da se još uvijek ne primjenjuje) da se pri polaganju SAT testa za upis na američka sveučilišta procjenjuju i poteškoće polagača (npr. stopa kriminala i siromaštva u području iz kojega učenik dolazi, dohodak kućanstva učenika i kvaliteta učenikove srednje škole itd.)
Polagači će dobivati između 1 i 100 bodova, s time da više bodova signalizira višu razinu poteškoća.
