Boulder burials are very simple, yet striking monuments. As the name suggest they are simply burials beneath a large boulder. The burials contained within are mainly single and set in a small kist like chamber made from smaller stones. Boulder burials can be found on their own or within or around stone circles. The boulders often bear cup marks and were often picked for their curiously attractive shape or rock patterns.

Je to celé docela složité. Na našem území se takto nepohřbívalo (spíš do mohyl), proto nemá pohřeb po dolmenem v češtině zádný ustálený výraz. Pokud se v kontextu nemluví přímo o pohřbívání, bylo by asi lepší to přeložit pouze jako "dolmen". I v Anglii a Francii, kde jsou tyto památky "běžné", se velmi často pod dolmenem žádný pohřeb nenajde. Buď to se nedochoval, nebo tam nikdy nebyl...

No  Sarka Rubkova: Dolmen is used in both languages and means certain type of stone structure; however it is not covering all types of burials, which may be hidden behind this term.
