Towards a value-driven IT function

The IT function is a critical link between the IT industry and other businesses it serves – and is a vital source of innovation. The IT function creates a link and enabling platform in the value chain of organisations by acting as a foundation of business activity. It supports organisations in combining people, process and technology to automate business processes and produce solutions that enable organisations and users to perform both efficiently and innovatively.
Ultimately the role of the IT function is to convert IT investment, in the form of people, process and technologies, into business value, with the help of e-literate users. One euro spent on the IT function should yield more than one euro in business value. But does it? And do we even know how to measure it?
Broadly speaking the IT function is struggling to answer these questions. Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in many organisations are unable to accurately measure and articulate the business value being delivered by IT. This is often described as the IT Productivity Paradox which was defined by Robert Solow when he said: “I see computers everywhere except in the productivity statistics.”

IT funkce je asi ok, ale je to vlastně formulace převzatá z angličtiny (substantiv ve funkci adjektiva) - striktně vzato je to nesprávná čeština, i když už hodně rozšířená

Asker: Diky, Tomáši, myslím, ten pojem zahrnuje vedle lidí i technologii... Ale možná jsem vedle.

Asker: No, oddělení IT navrhoval už kolega, se kterým to překládáme. Já si ale myslím, že se myslí něco širšího, ale nevím přesně co, protože tomu pojmu tak úplně nerozumím resp. nedokážu to dobře vyjádřit česky (možná "podnikové IT procesy"?). Jinak určitě máte pravdu, že jde především o lidi. A
