Každá strana papíru je jiná. Spodní strana, tj. sítová strana, má mikroskopickou strukturu po profilu sít. Vrchní strana, tj. plstěncová strana, se dostává do styku pouze s plstěncem a je proto homogennější. Ačkoli je tento na počátku produkce jasně viditelný rozdíl snížen hlazením, lisováním a kalandrováním, není možné jej úplně odstranit.

Každá strana papíru je jiná. Spodní strana, tj. sítová strana, má mikroskopickou strukturu po profilu sít. Vrchní strana, tj. plstěncová strana, se dostává do styku pouze s plstěncem a je proto homogennější.
