Explanation:
Based on the link from ExScientiaVera with the illustration provided I do not go with udgangsaksel. The illustration shows clearly an arm on the exterior of the gearbox for manipulation of the wheels inside it. My suggestion is therefore skiftearm possibly udvendig skiftearm (if distinguishing between an inside and an outside arm is called for). The source term could indicate it.
