The remaining funding (a maximum therefore of 40%) will become an area aid for the upkeep of olive groves of environmental or social value. The new system will come into force for the 2005/2006 marketing year. The current support scheme, which provides for production aid of EUR 1322.5/tonne, will remain applicable until 1 November 2005.
