In een lijst met geografische namen kom ik een aantal termen tegen waarmee waarschijnlijk naar regio's (in Australië? Canada? VS?) verwezen wordt. Weet iemand wat hiermee precies bedoeld wordt:

Explanation:
Chili heeft 13 regio's (12 in Zuid-Amerika en de 13de op de Zuidpool), maar in deze link wordt (toevallig?) precies hetzelfde onderscheid gemaakt.

Het blijft echt gissen zonder informatie over de aard van het document waarin deze term staat. Wanneer het over defensie gaat, kan het gaan om een indeling van delen van de wereld in regio's ten behoeve van een militaire organisatie. Een voorbeeld van wat ik bedoel is de indeling volgens de VS: kun je opzoeken op wikipedia.

De laatste bestrijkt bijvoorbeelt zuid-amerika. De tweede het Midden-Oosten, de eerste Canada.

Ik kan me voorstellen dat bijv. de NAVO ook iets dergelijks doet.
