Bij kernsplijting wordt een splijtstof gebombardeerd met elektronen, waardoor de splijtstof splitst in meerdere splijtingsproducten. Hierbij komt veel (kern)energie vrij.

Arie, ik denk dat je gelijk hebt. Op de site van ECN wordt inderdaad afsplintering genoemd en dat is een ander proces dan kernsplijting. Bij afsplintering worden deeltjes losgeschoten uit de kern, bij splijting wordt de kern echt gedeeld. Bedankt voor je reactie en verbetering. Ik steun jouw vertaling.
