In an English to Dutch translation I 'm proofreading, the term 'aanslag' is used in the context of varnish formation in gas turbine power systems. I'm not sure if this term is correct. Auto Woordenboek van Wagenaar Hummelinck renders 'varnishing' as 'lakvorming in motorolie'. Various Internet references, e.g. http://www.protex.nl/index.php?action=page&group_id=10000047... , seem to support this. There are many references to 'aanslag' in connection with 'motorolie' however, so perhaps I should be careful about rejecting the term 'aanslag'. Any real lubrication experts out there?
