Woordenboek zegt (kroontjes)pen, maar ik ben niet overtuigd... (er wordt trouwens ook over "pens" gesproken, dus er zal wel een onderscheid zijn)

nib = inderdaad een kroontjespen
'nibs' in betekenis van 'dots' blijkt ook te bestaan. Het verband tussen die twee ligt alvast voor de hand.

Pen kan trouwens op meerdere soorten pennen slaan - hoeft dus niet een kroontjespen te zijn.

Lijkt me hier alvast een mogelijkheid

"nib" is inderdaad "pen", dat zegt ook het Beeldwoordenboek van de Standaard Uitgeverij.
Als het dus om een matrix- of naaldenprinter gaat, stel ik "naaldentest" voor.
