English term or phrase: just as for the Welsh
Greetings,

In a way, this question is about grammar, so I think I'll mark it as ‘non-pro’.

My sentence for translation:
Just as for the Welsh, for the Iranians too, light is born in the east.

It's the combination of ‘just as for’ which is difficult for me – I somehow have a feeling that something like همانند پیش ما (hamānand-e pish-e mā) might break a grammatical rule.

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

PS In this case, "light is born in the east" is figurative - I have in mind the light of the Iranian language and culture, spreading as it did westwards from Khorasān in the east to the rest of Iran during the linguistic renaissance which culminated in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh.

Cf. the idea of the Welsh “Gwawr” (= dawn – with the word for ‘the’ it becomes “Y Wawr” e.g. Merched y Wawr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merched_y_Wawr) and many other similar instances in our culture – this song, a kind of second national anthem is a particularly rich example; fortunately it has Eng. subtitles:
