I do believe that "caused" in the sentence is a verb. Based on the text, I think "money" is the main factor in GNP and it can predict the future of the GNP. That's why I think the sentence should translate as what I suggested: پول علیت یا متغیر گرنجر(ی) در تولید ناخالص ملی است . To use باعث شدن makes a positive growth in the GNP which the rest of the sentences do not suggest.

So "to Granger-cause" is a compound verb consisting of the proper noun "Granger" together with the verb "to cause". The compound is a subclass of "to cause" - it means "to cause in the way described by Granger".

The nearest example I can think of offhand is "to French-braid" i.e. to arrange Hair into a French braid.

1. A verb phrase consists of a verb and its dependents. According to generative grammer, a verb phrase is headed by a verb.
2. Adverb is not part of a VP. I searched and find no reference to show that adverb is part of a VP.
3. I'm in doubt about the adverbial nature of Granger! How do you prove that Granger is an adverb while it hasn't the signs of an adverb?

I'd rephrase the sentence as "he found evidence that there was a causal relationship (in the sense of Granger) between money and GNP". My Farsi is very far from being able to translate that :-)

نیست و باید با توجه به معنای آن ترجمه شود.در ضمن بعید نیست نویسنده اصلی متن دچار اشتباه گرامری شده باشه.ما حداقل تو سرچ هامون علیت گرانگر رو دیدیم اما پول گرانگر رو ندیدیم:)

The English is bad, and there's an error in it - it should read "money Granger-caused GNP". That's technical jargon for "the past behavior of money provided statistically significant information about future values of GNP". I think the best that can be done is to literally translate "caused (in the sense of Granger)" and add an explanatory note.

اگر من این امکان رو دارم که با نظر شما مخالفت کنم به هیچ عنوان ماهیت حرفه ای بودن فعالیتهای من رو زیر سوال نمی بره. عبارت و جمله پیشنهادی شما از نظر من کاملاً غلطه. درست که عبارت «علیت گرنجری» دارای بسامد بالایی داره اما آوردن عین این عبارت برای ترجمه این جمله به نظر من درست نیست. هم بنا به ساختار جمله انگلیسی که بعد از «دت» منتظر یک جمله کامل هستیم. (ببخشید من از دت به صورت فارسی استفاده کردم. تلقی بر بی حرفه ا یگری نشه. آوردن کلمه انگلیسی در متن فارسی در پروز ایجاد اختلال در متن می کنه) و هم با توجه به متن اصلی که من اون رو در نت پیدا کردم این عبارت فرم صفت نداره یعنی خط فاصله ای (-) بین آنها نیست که شبه صفت بودن رو به مترجم بده. بنا به این دلایل من با نظر شما برای ترجمه این عبارت به صورت صفت موافق نیستم اما مشکلی با این مسئله ندارم که علیت گرنجری در متون مربوطه وجود دارد آن هم با بسامد بالا. امیدوارم تونسته باشم به صورت مستدل شما رو توجیه کرده باشم.

It needs a translator's note e.g. "the past behavior of money provided statistically significant information about future values of GNP".
