English term or phrase: prospective user
Over the past 20 years, SMRs have been applied to BCI applications in a variety of different ways. Essentially all of these efforts have started from the observation that SMRs change with motor imagery as well as with actual movements. Thus, the prospective BCI user is asked to imagine particular actions and the resultant changes in SMR amplitudes are translated into outputs such as cursor movement.
