Salt in a Thermo-Solar plant |

"An Energy storage system useful for storing energy due to sun light [..] The storage tank system includes a liquid therein which is heated as a result of the sun's energy [...] The heated liquid evaporates and subsequently condenses onto cans of a salt. The condensing liquid heats the salt which stores the heat" Reference: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/42008299/Energy-Storage-boiler-T... |

Reference: Salt in a Thermo-Solar plant Reference information: Salt here is the generic chemistryl name of a family of simple compounds like NaCl, KCl, etc. (check a chemistry handbook). Salt mixtures (secret) are used in molten state in a thermo-solar plant to store energy at high temperature (hundreds C). I guess fusion is either the mixing of the various salts used or the melting process. Ask at Solar Millennium or Solel (acquired by Siemens) - two Thermo-Solar companies I know about. |
