Bonsoir,
Pour BTEC, je pense mettre "Conseil de l'enseignement commercial et technique" entre parenthèses après le sigle anglais puis traduire le titre du diplôme ou du certificat qui suit ledit sigle. Qu'en dites-vous ? Je pense d'ailleurs expliciter le sigle en question uniquement lors de sa première apparition.

This discussion is very interesting. I do not want to offense anyone but I think that I will stick to the idea of a diploma and maybe add an explanation between brackets after the acronym. Moreover, I thank you for your time and your explanation.
It wasn't around when I started in 1979, but was pretty much established by the time I left in 1989 — very much a "child of its time" ;-) In the spirit of that era... just like NVQs...

Hi Bertrand and while we're on the subject, my son did Drama, with a distinction, though he has never touched the subject since:) I had never come across BTEC before, and would recommend them to any student..cheers!
Hi, my daughter has a BTEC in Art and Design (2 year course completed in her GCSE years) with a distinction. The courses are demanding and involve a lot of preparation and study!
It is in no way a 'récompense'. When we talk about an 'award' in an educational context, it refers to some kind of certificate/diploma/qualification, which is quite different from the kind of award that might be a prize/trophy — or Olympic gold medal! (congratulations to Paralympic gold medallist swimmer Charles Rozoy!)
BTEC est un diplome, fait totalement en contrôle continu. Level 2: niveau BEP (classe de seconde) Level 3: niveau Bac Pro

Explanation: I'm thinking for these kind of issues, you should only explain what BTEC stands for both in English and in French and then keep the same initials later on when you refer to it again.
