Traduction pour la France.

Voici les équivalences en notation:

Third class honours (40-49%) = Passable~Assez-bien
Lower second class honours (50-59%) = Bien
Upper second class honours (60-69%) = Très bien
First class honours (>70%) = Excellent

agree  Eliza Hall: Yes. I went to university in the UK and also studied in three French universities, and this is correct for the grades (but it's a license ès sciences, as Michèle says).

-> Thanks Eliza. "ès" is indeed the right therm.

neutral  katsy: le problème avec votre "échelle" c'est que la mention "excellent" n'existe pas http://www.univ-paris3.fr/glossaire-29979.kjsp?RH=flop; je serais donc plutôt d'accord avec "mention bien"

Explanation:
Je crois qu'il s'agit plutôt de la mention bien, first class équivalent à first class.

Je voulais dire "first class" étant équivalent à "très bien". Pardonnez-moi.

So rather than "Licence ès sciences avec mention bien, je dirais "Licence ès science avec mention (Honours second class)", rejoignant le commentaire de Maja.

disagree  Eliza Hall: Renvi Yimgna has it right, above. UK degrees go, in descending order, first; upper second; lower second; third. First = mention excellent, so upper second = mention très bien. Lower second would be mention bien.

-> I conducted further research, I think it might be better to leave the English as there is not equivalent in the French system to the UK Honours system. See : https://www.guide-australie.com/cycles-diplomes-et-equivalen...

agree  katsy: Mention très bien is the best you can get in a French university, so I agree with mention Bien (even if marks are not exactly the same) . Also agree that it is a good idea to at least give the English version with the proposed translation in brackets
