I think it's simply because 'est compris entre... et...' is a peculiarly FR expression that does not have a natural equivalent in EN. The oddity here, however, would appear to be the use of 'is ranging from...' — but that seems to be something specific to patents, and I guess stems from the way the claims are express using 'is...'; in natural EN, we might more normally say "the value lies between...", but it's more awkward to make that work if you try to stick to using 'is'. |
