English term or phrase: segment

Hi everyone,

I have come across the term 'segment' as part of the translation of a "bible" for an American tv show (i.e. a detailed guide that explains the ins and outs of the show's concept and production specifications with a view to selling the concept to foreign channels).
The term 'segment' is used somewhat vaguely in various places but basically corresponds to each of the various "parts" of the tv show, like "chapters" in a book.
I first thought of translating it by "séquence" but the term "sequence" also appears in English with what looks like a different meaning..
According to this website http://www.scripps.ohiou.edu/producer/thebook/jargon.htm a segment and a "block" share the same meaning, i.e. "Any segment of a newscast. Includes everything between the commercials. As in, "Your story is in the 3rd block at 6.""
However, in the "bible", "segment" and "block" seem to carry slightly different meanings.

Here are some occurrences for "segment", "block" and "sequence":

- "There are 7 standard branded segments in each episode "
- "If there is to be a segment about the effect of clogged arteries on the speed of blood flow in the body, the medical students come up with everyday materials to demonstrate that effect"
- "This show is FUN. Segments must be entertaining mixed with teaching"
- "The chosen host should also be coached to be expert at providing short, passionate bites that sell the segment"
- "the editors will be looking for these to use as teasers for upcoming segments"
- "segment producers"
- "Segments simply take place wherever it is best suited on set"
- "All the segments that involve props should be rehearsed"
- "Some segments may need to be shot out of sequence for practical purposes"
- "Segment Titles"
- "Teases MUST hook viewers from block to block/carry over the commercial break and into the next segment."
- "Within that Project are folders for Sequences, B-roll, Music, and Graphics"
- "After each revision, sequences should be re-named accordingly"

Incidentally, could anyone provide a glossary of French terms related to tv show production? I have found many English glossaries but very few parallel texts in French.
