English term or phrase: quick bread
Does anyone know of a good culinary dictionary? I need to translate some recipees, and it's often hard to find equivalents from English to French, especially in cases such as "Quick bread" which appears to be something typically Amercian.
C'est quoi, "quick bread", en fait ?...

neutral  Tony M: Yes, except that as the Wiki article explains, it isn't only bread; the oriiginal term might more accurately have been 'quick dough'

pâte à levure chimique

Explanation:
As Robintech has said in the discussion area, I would not translate, but add an explanation in brackets; if it isn't 'levure de boulanger', then it must be some form of 'levure chimique'.

agree  emiledgar: It's quick because it doesn't have to rise, instead, baking powder and/or baking soda are used//yes, it's mostly breakfast or tea time sweet cakes - blueberry bread, carrot cake, date nut bread what is usually called "des cakes" in French.
