Hello

Is it fine to say that : Tinned meat and other meat preserves corresponds to : viande en conserve et autres conserves de viande?
This is what I found after looking for preserves in dictionaries but I think that there is a difference between tinned meat and meat preserves.

agree  Tony M: To make it work better in FR, I'd turn the EN round and say 'meat preserves (in tins, etc.)'

neutral  Tony M: The trouble is, 'confit' is only one particular method of preserving, and not necessarily one that is used exclusively for canning — or not. / Yes, but that's not the same disticntion as the source text :-(

  -> OK mais si l'on se réfère aux viandes en conserve, il faut distinguer celles qui sont en sauce et en conserve et celles qui sont confites dans la graisse, non ?
