Sans plus de contexte, je pense que les "punchings" peuvent être des "perforations" (endroit perforé, trous) ou bien des "débouchures" de poinçonnage (parties enlevées).

Just one point: parts that are punched out of a sheet of material are more likely to be called 'stampings' (which cannot be the 'holes').

Hence more usually:
'punching' = aperture
'stamping' = flat part

"punchings" are either the holes or (more likely) the pieces of metal that have been punched out from the metal sheet , NOT the action of punching.

An the the same distinction exists in French.

Note that here, 'a punching' (i.e. used as a countable noun) refers to 'a hole that is made by the process of punching' (of course, due to lack of context, it might not be a 'hole' as such, but rather a 'part' that is punched out of a sheet of material)

I do not know if the FR term for 'the action of punching' can also be used in this way as it is in EN.
