English term or phrase: lag side operation
Set power factor that lag side operation with generator voltage setter.

Hello everybody : how do you translate this sentence ? I do not understand it at all !

fonctionnement en mode retard de phase
Explanation:
If we analyse your flawed sentenc and attempt t correct it, we can get from:
"Set power factor that lag side operation with generator voltage setter."
to this:
"Use generator voltage setter [regulator] to set power factor [to operate on] lag side."

I'm pretty confident about my interpretation of the EN here, but I'm not quite so sure the best way to express the lead / lag aspect — sometimes we speak of 'déphasage', and certainly 'avance / retard'

Although it seems counter-intuitive, to get the power factor (= phase difference between V and I) correct by adjusting the voltage, which is what it being described here. Obviously, the adjustment might be expected to be set to the centre (i.e. neither leading nor lagging), but for the purposes of this document, we are being told to set it to the 'lagging' side; in you other question, it said to set it to the 'leading' side.

disagree  Tony M: That would be meaningless in this context, and not even vaguely technically accurate.

disagree  Tony M: Technically meaningless, and not an accurate translation here: omits 'lag', and 'side' here has nothing to do with 'latéral'.
