The EN in your text sounds a little suspect, and I do rather strongly expect that there must be a more technical term for this in FR (and likely in EN too!)

Sadly, you may be up against here the tendency to describe a thing by its function in one language but by its form in the toher (and this happens either way round!)

In a not totally dissimilar context, I have had things like these referred to, among other things, as 'tubes en U' — they clearly form some kind of 'loop', though of course here we have no way of knowing what actual form they take.
