Conducting an analysis and providing a first opinion (***proposed disposition***) which indicates whether the alert can be cleared or not according to Compliance rules, with a highlight of the point(s) of attention/doubt;

Many of these alerts are generated by Chinese geographic terms escalated to Level B that are part of the name of the legal entity that is a XXX client, which could be easily ***dispositioned*** as a false match (not linked to DPRK).

traitement proposé
Explanation:
"Disposition" est ici utilisé à la fois comme un nom et, au mépris de la grammaire, comme un verbe. Il faut donc une traduction fonctionnant dans les deux cas.
"traitement" / "traiter comme" conviendra : "qui pourront être traitées comme de fausses alertes".

disagree  Daryo: there is no point forcing a similar translation for the noun and the verb if it is to end end up with a rather approximate meaning - the essence of "disposing" in this ST is about "getting rid of the case by taking a decision".

  -> This is much more than a simple decision, because if you consider that this is not a false alert, you have to say how you handle and solve the compliance issue.

agree  Germaine: C'est le sens, effectivement. Daryo oublie qu'on n'en est pas au stade de la "décision" (first opinion), mais plutôt à celui du traitement proposé compte tenu de ce qui suit dans la phrase.

Conducting an analysis and providing a first opinion (proposed disposition) which indicates whether the alert can be cleared or not according to Compliance rules, with a highlight of the point(s) of attention/doubt;

Here "the disposition / to disposition" simply means "a decision / to decide" about that case, it could be rephrased as:

Conducting an analysis and providing a first opinion (a proposed decision) which indicates whether the alert can be cleared or not according to Compliance rules, with a highlight of the point(s) of attention/doubt;

Many of these alerts are generated by Chinese geographic terms escalated to Level B that are part of the name of the legal entity that is a XXX client, which could easily lead to a decision that is in fact a false match (not linked to DPRK).

This use of "disposition" is not accidental:

-- it's about "disposing of a case" i.e. taking a decision about the case,
also
-- the part of an act specifying the decision itself is called "the disposition" [as opposed to introductory parts, naming the parties involved, giving the justification (preamble, recitals ..) for the decision, the signatures etc]

--------------------------------------------------

the "dispositions" of a law or a contract are final - nothing "optional/undecided" there;

the "disposal" of assets is final - assets are gone and not coming back ...

the "disposal of a case" implies that it's final - ("done with it, next case please") - sounds very much to me like "taking a decision", not much like considering the option of a possible proposition to be taken into consideration at some point in the future, pending an advisory ...

disagree  Germaine: It's not about taking a decision; it's about proposing a FIRST OPINION about what might be the decision taking into account "points of attention/doubt".
5 hrs
  -> It's not forbidden to look at various meanings of "disposal", especially "disposing of a case" - and spot the connections // it is the first opinion on what should be the [final] decision about allowing or not the transaction.
