English term or phrase:beyond organic
Hello,
Client has been putting the word "organic" on his meat label all along, but is now facing some challenges with regulations, etc. etc. He wants to now call it "beyond organic"
What would be the equivalent in French please? Au-delà de l'organique? Is that too litteral?
If Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_certification is to be believed: "In some countries, organic standards are formulated and overseen by the government. The United States, the European Union, Canada and Japan have comprehensive organic legislation, and the term "organic" may be used only by certified producers." I can't imagine that adding the word "beyond" makes any difference to that. But I guess the client knows best ;)
It is 100% organic as the cows are grass-fed and grass-finished. However, client doesn't want to go through the long and expensive process of having it certified to call it organic. So, he is calling it "beyond organic"
To be honest, the source term has absolutely no meaning, so it has no documented equivalent. And if he's having trouble with using organic, it's presumably because it isn't 100% organic. Right? In which case I wouldn't want to encourage him to use something understandable but untrue.
Je me pieute
