English term or phrase:Awareness
I need a word for awareness, other than 'conscience', because I already translated Conscience as Conscience. Preferably a single word and not a phrase. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
My Larousse thesauraus, under "conscience", gives: "perception, attention, sensibilité, application and concentration". Under "sensibilité" it gives, among others, "intuition" and "réceptivité".
Puis-je suggérer que vous ne traduisiez pas "awareness" par le même mot dans chaque phrase (étant donné qu'il n'a pas l'air d'avoir exactement le même sens à chaque fois) ?
In example 1, if you want to use "conscience" > maybe "...qui développera l'acuité de votre conscience" or "... qui augmentera votre prise de conscience". In some other examples, I don't think using "conscience", or the same form, really works, especially since you have "consciousness" and "areas of awareness" in the same sentence."
The translation for awareness in French should be the same in all of these given examples, or at least include the same form together with other words required by the context...
Here are some examples: "you may turn it into wisdom that will widen your awareness." "words have been successfully matched with the awareness of their audiences" "This holds true regardless of your own awareness of your own beliefs" "Consciousness and its different areas of awareness is ..." "At the base of every automatic reaction or narrow awareness that leads to ..."
It may be possible to adapt the syntax of the sentence, but without more comprehensive context, we can't suggest anything along those lines. What about "prise de connaissance" or even "prise de conscience" (as opposed to "conscience" on its own?
But 'awareness' is not an "action performed by" anyone! That would be a different word in EN: you can't say "I'm going to do an awareness today"! You see now perhaps why it is vital for us to have proper context in order to see how the word is being used. Your refusal to give us the necessary context means we are all wasting our time trying to help you, and possibly barking up the wrong tree.
Agree with Renate. Hors contexte particulier, on peut suggérer n'importe quoi et quant à savoir si "one (term) fits all (context)", rien n'est moins certain!
I agree with "sensibilisation" especially if the context is "general/public awareness"and since we have no context, this is general. Otherwise, connaissance (full awareness - pleine connaissance), attention as in "attirer l'attention" (raise awareness).
Explanation: Really difficult to help you without knowing more about your docuemnt / context.
But this often works, in sense like 'avoir connaissance de...' > 'to be aware of' etc. But of course, it all depends if the surrounding context is clear enough that it does not have the meaning 'knowledge'.
