Geology
English term or phrase: doleen
The 2008 and 2009 digs focused on the remains of a couple of structures, prehistoric in date, just south of the main cashel. The remains are located in the northern half of a sub-oval depression in the limestone pavement. This is a natural geological feature called **a ‘doleen’**, a feature that perhaps saw some human alteration. The location is remarkably sheltered from the prevailing southwesterly wind.
