Example sentence(s):

pour régler selon le type de disque destinataire Explanation: 'Calibrate' is IMHO not a very apt choice of word in the EN source text; sounds like some marketing copy-writer trying to make it sound more impressive than it really is: "select disc type to be burned" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 days (2009-08-26 12:40:11 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Gilles seems unhappy with the idea of translating 'calibrate' by 'regler' or some other word; of course, it all depends on the context, but on the face of it, from the slim context given, this appears to be simply a setting for choosing the type of disc to be used; if this is indeed the case, then there is no real element of 'calibration' going on at all, and we really need to find another way of expressing the correct idea in FR. However, if toggling this simple 'one-or-the-other' control then takes one to another windoz where some other, more complex calibration is carried out, then of course my supposition would be wrong; however, I see nothing in the source text as given to suggest this would be the case. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 days (2009-08-26 12:43:23 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- As Agatha says above, 'disque cible' occurs so often on the 'Net, it is hard to believe it is not a valid term. |
