" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 heures (2008-10-06 12:39:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Je pense qu'il faut lire cut-size "paper and ream", cut-size portant sur les deux termes. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 heures (2008-10-06 13:54:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Quelque chose ne va pas entre Michaël, dont je sais l'expérience en matière de papeterie, et M. Faudouas, que je n'a jamais eu l'honneur de rencontrer.

-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2008-10-06 15:49:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Comme on ne peut pas rectifier ses fautes de frappe après coup, merci de lire "industrie papetière" à la 1ère ligne ci-dessus !! ;)) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2008-10-06 16:00:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Je ne veux pas polémiquer avec mon ami Hendiadys, mais les liens qu'il cite ne touche pas directement au terme que nous cherchons. :)) Example sentence(s):

Reference: Cut sizes Reference information: In the paper & printing industry, "cut sizes" are the smaller sizes in the DIN or ISO range of sizes : A4 and A3, and smaller. (The term comes from the fact that they are often - but not always - obtained by guillotining a larger size). As far as I am aware there is no specific term in French for this : except e.g "formats pour la bureautique" or "petits formats". -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2008-10-06 13:36:08 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Si vous regardez le GDT sous "cut size" vous verrez "cut size" - industrie papetière = "format". ;) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2008-10-06 13:45:54 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I don't want to bore everybody, but Mary-Ann is looking for an answer ... "Format brut / fini" : the format brut is the sheet size which will give the printer a margin around the printed area, and which will be trimmed (usually on a guillotine - massicot in French) after printing. see :http://www.cavi.univ-paris3.fr/phalese/desslate/dico0488.htm "Format brut, dimensions d’une feuille ou d’un imprimé avant le rognage. Format fini, dimensions finales d’une feuille de papier ou de carton après façonnage" Because printing techniques vary, the basic ISO range includes "SR" sizes and "R" sizes, which provide more or less trim. The SR sizes are more popular in France. The R sizes are generally preferred in Germany, for example. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2008-10-06 15:27:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Thank you Mary Ann ! Sorry I rambled on so long. I'll post an answer shortly. Example sentence(s):
