This is part of a description on how to work with orders, under Traitement avancé des ordres de vente (Advanced sales order processing).
This is in the session "how to process parent-child/merchandiser orders". Parent-child order (PCO) is explained, together with made-to-order (MTO), Variant configuration (VC) and others for orders.
I think the parent is the article being sold, and the child is one of the components that are part of the parent. Here's an example:
"OTC enters parent material, which explodes to show the child materials"

But...how would you say that in French? I don't think parent/enfant works, there must be a specific term.
