English term or phrase: Terminate an item
"We are asking units not to pay invoices to prevent paying for an item which could be terminated immediately by XYZ."

This is a power point presentation instructing employees in the use of a new invoicing program that a third party (XYZ) is providing. Unfortunately there is not much more context than this, but I am asking myself how could an item be terminated (gelöscht / aufgehoben / beendet ??) by the provider if the service that the invoice was sent for has already been provided and the invoice has already been generated? Any ideas? Thank you!

German translation:Artikel sofort stornieren
Explanation:
Seems to be what is implied.

Maybe "...sofort stornierbar durch XYZ" would be a slightly better alternative.

They are telling their business units not to pay for articles they might pay for but never receive due to order cancellation by XYZ

Also called "reneging on a commitment to deliver on the part of XYZ"

Nichterfüllung... is another term that might be usefull
