Similar to a pencil note in a paper document that can be erased and changed whenever you like. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 26 mins (2015-03-23 23:41:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Bleistifteinträge were typical in balance sheets and costing schedules on paper to record projected figures or calculate estimates for annual results on the basis of the figures for a few months. I suppose you could also treat them as being "vorläufig" by nature Only when the figures were entered in ink did the document become official and valid for the calculation of profits and losses and for tax assessment. Erasing or overwriting figures entered in ink would make an accountant or tax officer take a much closer look at the documents to see if "the books" had been "fiddled" |
