English term or phrase: alternate gear
Hi,

I'm working on a paper about cockpit design for airplaines, and there are some things I'm not sure whether to leave in English or, if they are commonly translated, what to call them (see also my other questions about this):

While it looks different from a broad picture standpoint, details such as alternate flaps and alternate gear, ECS information are all identical to Airplane X.

What is the German term for "alternate gear"? Is the English term known in German aviation circles?

Thank you very much in advance!

Ich bin mir da nicht ganz sicher, "gear" bezieht sich ja auch auf das Triebwerk.

Handelt es sich vielleicht um den Begriff "Alternate Gear Down Control" oder "Alternate Gear Deploy System" ?

As far as I know, commercial airplanes are not fitted with any secondary gear that would drop out in case the regular one got stuck. If the context is as stated above, I would suggest

"Sicherheitssystem zum manuellen Ausfahren des Fahrwerks"
