Just want to agree with Nina Explanation: As none of us so far seem to know exactly what was done with the old guy there in the museum, we had better use the verb "bestatten" = "to inter" which can mean anywhere or any method, because "begraben" = "to bury" must be under the earth. |

ein Museum, in dem R seine letzte Ruhe fand Explanation: Hallo Reni, I don't think that either "begraben" or "bestatten" fits in your context. Rembrandt died in 1669 and I strongly doubt that the museum was present then. Probably his remains were brought to the museum at a much later date. However both "begraben" and "bestatten" suggest the original burial ceremony. In cases like this you would rather translate it indirectly and use phrases like "seine letzte Ruhe fand", or "das Museum, in dem sich Rs sterbliche Überreste befinden". I personally favor the first one as it is a bit more respectful. Cheers Claudia |
