I have some problems finding the right translation.
This is a test executed in the context of the ISS Spheres project:

I found your text snippet on a NASA web page (see link). On the same page, in the Applications section under "Space Applications" is this hint on a telescope application:<BR>
"Secondly, this formation flight technology would lead to Separated-Spacecraft Interferometers (light from two or more telescopes that combine to provide a high resolution image)."<BR>
Filling an imaging plane will need multiple exposures by each of the component telescopes, and the "retargeting" then means the adjustment of the telescope positions and orientations.
