Meine letzte Frage zu meinen Text über die Arbeit einer Umweltorganisation in Brasilien, die sich gegen die Entwaldung und die Zerstörung des Amazonas einsetzt.
Die Organisation hat eine Umfrage in der Bevölkerung durchgeführt, um herauszufinden, was sie über den Amazonas denkt:

From the results analysis, we have worked on a consolidated, active opposition, promoting different values and finding ways to act and challenge the status quo. We expect this will have an impact on what political decision makers adopt as policies for elections and also on the decisions that industries make about their practises.

Meine Frage: Denkt ihr, dass mit «opposition» hier konkret die Opposition (in der Politik) gemeint ist oder eher der Widerstand im generellen Sinn? Ich tendiere zur ersten Version, bin aber nicht sicher. Vielen Dank für eure Hilfe!

Ein politisches Verständnis liegt dem Ganzen klar zugrunde, aber hier scheint es um eine Alternative bei der generellen Haltung oder im gesellschaftlichen Selbstverständnis zu gehen; erst dann tritt ja die Politik auf die Bühne ("this will have an impact on what political decision makers adopt as policies").
Opposition würde ich umso weniger wählen, als das Wort bei uns der Parteienlandschaft zugeordnet wird. Um die geht es aber wirklich nicht.
