can't be bothered

English term or phrase: can't be bothered
"Some species of cuckoo birds can't be bothered taking care of their young and simply lay their eggs in the nests of other species."

Dictionaries like to give "keine Lust" or "kein Bock" as possible translations for "can't be bothered" but those aren't really the same. I once came across a much more accurate translation for "can't be bothered" but can't remember it anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
