ital. conto=Rechnung und corrente=laufend; rechtliche Grundlage, auf der laufende Bankkonten (Kontokorrent-Konten) geführt werden; dort werden alle Gutschriften und Belastungen eines Bankkunden (Privat- oder Geschäftskunden) vom Kreditinstitut erfasst. Es dient zur Abwicklung aller Bankgeschäfte, v.a. des Zahlungsverkehrs, und kann sowohl kreditorisch als auch debitorisch geführt werden. Die Merkmale des Kontokorrents sind in § 355 HGB näher geregelt.
